Urgent Care

Last weekend we had to take Silas to urgent care.

We were concerned because he had a temperature of over 102*. When we got him to the urgent care they had it reading at 103*. After a hasty check up we were told he had a double ear infection and we were given a script for amoxicillin. By the end of the weekend the fever had gone away and Silas seemed back to his normal self.

On Tuesday during a diaper change I noticed that Silas was covered in a red rash so we headed down to the pediatrician's office to check it out. We thought maybe it was an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin, but he had been on it before so we weren't for sure.

The doctor confirmed it wasn't an allergic reaction and it also wasn't an ear infection, much less a double ear infection. Apparently the urgent care gave us a blanket diagnosis based off his ears being red. The doctor we saw at his pediatrician's office told us it was Roseola, which is a viral infection that is common in children under 2. It starts off as a fever and then results in a rash that will go away in time.

A few days later and his skin was back to normal.

Escaping the heat!

It has been so hot here that we decided to escape the heat and head up north to Prescott for the day.

Silas slept almost the entire way up and woke a few miles outside of Prescott Valley.

We decided to have lunch the Prescott Brewery Company, which is across from the courthouse/town square.

Silas was very vocal, but with some puffs and apple sauce he was ready to contently play and nibble off mine and Josh's plates.

After lunch we wondered around town and finally stopped to play in the grass in the square. We played ball and blew bubbles. Josh took some amazing pictures of Silas playing and walking around. It makes my heart smile and cry at the same time as I see him grow and hit more milestones.

We had a good time downtown and were going to check out the Museum at the mall, but on the way Josh and I broke into the bag of salt water taffy we had purchased at one of the shops. The taffy succeeded in ruining the trip, because it ripped out one of Josh's crowns.

We headed home and spent the evening splashing around in the splash mat.

Zoo trip with friends!

Thanks to Honey and Bubby we have a membership to the Phoenix Zoo!

We met up with some mom/baby friends for a morning stroll around the zoo.

It was so hot, even at 7:30 in the morning, that we spent most of our time at the splash zone!
