Good mornings

We are lucky, because this is how Silas normally is every morning!

My second hair cut!

After 3 1/2 months it seemed about time to get another hair cut!

It was starting to get really long in the back and falling into his eyes.

Silas picked out the yellow car and Cars movie to watch while he got his hair trimmed.

Things started off pretty good! He sat up straight and let the nice lady get him all ready to go.

We even got a few smiles while she started combing his hair .

As soon as she started spraying it with water it things started to go south. Silas realized something was going on with his hair!

He was not amused by the hair cutting.

Although it looks like he was cooperating, he was actually trying to push the lady away. We had to do some creative maneuvering to finish his hair cut. There were some crying and screaming. There was even some fighting when they had to trim around his ears with the clippers. Kind of the same behavior as last time.

When we were all finished we had some hair gel put in and spiked it just for Aunt Andi! We even got a lollipop, but Silas was not happy with his consolation prize and threw it on the floor.
He may not like the process, but the aftermath sure is adorable!

More splashing!

The weather this past month has been so hot! We've had many record breaking days and being outside has been miserable! To keep cool we've been splashing on the porch to keep out of the sun.

Silas loves the water! He enjoys the splash pad from his Mema and Papa because we can keep it on the porch or move it into the grass. The water really keeps us cool!

Sometimes Silas just loves sitting on the porch watching the water squirt up high!

Thanks for the best birthday gift ever Mema and Papa!

Silas' new playmate

Bubby and Honey have a new addition!

Meet Silas' new playmate QTip

Silas loves kitties just as much as mommy and daddy do!

He pats QTip with a gentle hand and says 'Hi Kitty!' when ever he sees him.

I think the two of them will grow to be best buds!

Urgent Care

Last weekend we had to take Silas to urgent care.

We were concerned because he had a temperature of over 102*. When we got him to the urgent care they had it reading at 103*. After a hasty check up we were told he had a double ear infection and we were given a script for amoxicillin. By the end of the weekend the fever had gone away and Silas seemed back to his normal self.

On Tuesday during a diaper change I noticed that Silas was covered in a red rash so we headed down to the pediatrician's office to check it out. We thought maybe it was an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin, but he had been on it before so we weren't for sure.

The doctor confirmed it wasn't an allergic reaction and it also wasn't an ear infection, much less a double ear infection. Apparently the urgent care gave us a blanket diagnosis based off his ears being red. The doctor we saw at his pediatrician's office told us it was Roseola, which is a viral infection that is common in children under 2. It starts off as a fever and then results in a rash that will go away in time.

A few days later and his skin was back to normal.

Escaping the heat!

It has been so hot here that we decided to escape the heat and head up north to Prescott for the day.

Silas slept almost the entire way up and woke a few miles outside of Prescott Valley.

We decided to have lunch the Prescott Brewery Company, which is across from the courthouse/town square.

Silas was very vocal, but with some puffs and apple sauce he was ready to contently play and nibble off mine and Josh's plates.

After lunch we wondered around town and finally stopped to play in the grass in the square. We played ball and blew bubbles. Josh took some amazing pictures of Silas playing and walking around. It makes my heart smile and cry at the same time as I see him grow and hit more milestones.

We had a good time downtown and were going to check out the Museum at the mall, but on the way Josh and I broke into the bag of salt water taffy we had purchased at one of the shops. The taffy succeeded in ruining the trip, because it ripped out one of Josh's crowns.

We headed home and spent the evening splashing around in the splash mat.

Zoo trip with friends!

Thanks to Honey and Bubby we have a membership to the Phoenix Zoo!

We met up with some mom/baby friends for a morning stroll around the zoo.

It was so hot, even at 7:30 in the morning, that we spent most of our time at the splash zone!

Modeling diapers

We've cloth diapered Silas almost since birth.

Our favorites are BumGenius Organic AIO, also known as the elemental diaper. We also use fitted diapers. I like the fitted diapers because they are often done in prints. They do require a cover for extended use, but if we are at home I don't put a cover on them. They last for about an hour or two before they become damp.

I ordered a few diapers from a WAHM (work at home mom) and my friend Maysa brought them over to me and snapped a few pictures of Silas in them. Maysa brought over her little girl, Guinevere so Silas also got to play with another girl friend of his.
