Modeling diapers

We've cloth diapered Silas almost since birth.

Our favorites are BumGenius Organic AIO, also known as the elemental diaper. We also use fitted diapers. I like the fitted diapers because they are often done in prints. They do require a cover for extended use, but if we are at home I don't put a cover on them. They last for about an hour or two before they become damp.

I ordered a few diapers from a WAHM (work at home mom) and my friend Maysa brought them over to me and snapped a few pictures of Silas in them. Maysa brought over her little girl, Guinevere so Silas also got to play with another girl friend of his.

Bam! Look at all of these milestone.

This weekend has been the weekend for milestones!

1. Silas can climb the stairs without assistance.

We now have to keep the baby gates closed at all times!

2. Silas can walk.

Silas had been taking a step or two here and there for about a week now, but this weekend he started taking far more than a few! He isn't consistent yet. He'll drop down to crawl when he gets tired, but he sure does try!

3. Silas is saying words!

He's been saying Dada and Mama for a couple of months, but this weekend he has said "cat", "wow", "papa", and "bye-bye". I can't believe how much he's picked up already.

4. Silas drinks from a straw

We have been working with sippy cups and he just wasn't having them. He has been showing interest in straws so my MIL tried giving him sips from her water cup with a straw and he loves it! I bought him some sippy cups that have straws and he does alright with them. He is still working on closing his mouth so the liquid doesn't dribble out.

5. Silas likes to feed himself with a spoon.

Silas has suddenly become very independent and wants to feed himself. It's messy, but he feels so proud of himself!

When did my little guy become such a big guy?!

Splashing with Adrielle

Silas has several girl friends! Adrielle is the daughter of one of my co-works from the elementary school. Adrielle and her Mama, Tarrah came over to break in Silas' new splash mat. It was his birthday gift from his Mema and Papa.

I think Adrielle enjoyed the pool more than the splash mat and Silas enjoyed the mat more than the pool! We were very glad they came over and hope they come over again soon!

One year and Family Photos

Yesterday we took Silas to get his professional one year photos done. We had a couple of family shots taken too. We had a blast and think Silas looks awful handsome! These are only a handful of the shots that were taken. Find us on facebook to see the rest!

First Birthday Party!

Silas turned one and we had a party!

Gammie helped set up and cook for the party.

Honey and Bubby made the yummy Dinosaur cake.

We had lots of balloons, which Silas loved to play with.

Silas' cousins signed his birthday banner and helped celebrate him.

Silas had a few friend as well as family come over. He shared Cheerios with his friend Logan.

Bubby joined in the fun and wore a party hat.

Silas gave Papa some love and showed off his cool new BBQ chef's hat from his Honey and Bubby.

Mmm! Cake!

Then it was time for presents.

Silas was totally cute in his BBQ hat and apron.

Party guests had a good time too!

Over all it was an amazing party. Silas got to spend lots of time with friends and family. He was spoiled rotten, but he deserves every second of it!

Thank you cards still need to be written and addressed, but they are on my list!

We made it!

First hair cut!

 I took Silas down to Cool Cuts 4 Kids for his very fist cut...

Before Silas had his hair cut... such long scraggly locks

I don't think he quite knew what to make of the whole ordeal

Once he got the cape on he discovered the wheel turned... and we all know how much he loves wheels!

Silas did surprisingly well when the lady started cutting his hair.

I think he was worried when I left his line of sight. Cars helped to distract him for a while.

Although when the buzzers were brought out things changed...

He was not happy at all! I had to hold him against my chest so she could trim around his ears.

His haircut turned out so handsome!

I even let him have a sucker. He didn't get the concept of closing his mouth so he drooled all over himself.

Later that night we went out to dinner for my birthday. Silas was still complaining about the traumatic buzzers.

He was giving Mema and Papa the run down.

Overall the experience was o.k. I'll admit that I cried a little. But he does look very handsome with his short hair.
