Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving! We spent the afternoon at my cousin Heather's house. We had a pot luck style dinner, so everyone brought a few dishes to share.

Great Aunt Jan enjoyed loving Silas while we got the dinner table ready.

Silas was hungry before we sat down so he had his own Thanksgiving dinner of sweet potatoes with turkey and mixed vegetables.

 He seemed to enjoy them!

Aunt Andi played with Silas while we set up the pack n play for him to play in while we all enjoyed our dinner!

We had quite the spread for 12 people (and Silas!)

After dinner we sat around and shot the breeze until well after 10 o'clock. Josh and Silas headed home before me so they could get some sleep for 'Dad, Dude, and Doodle day'. Even though Mema and Papa dropped me off around 11, I still got up around 8 and hit some sales. I'm happy to say I am about 75% done with Christmas shopping this year. After shopping I set up the tree and our house is looking quite festive!

6 months old!

Silas turned 6 months yesterday! Josh and I can't believe it's been half a year already!

He can hardly believe it either!!

On one hand it's gone by in a blink of an eye, but on the other, it's as if we've never lived life without him!

And this whole sitting up thing, he's got that mastered. He's been able to do that for about two weeks now.

He's out grown his baby tub! He is way to long for it, so now he gets to enjoy the big boy bathtub.

Josh has a lot of fun taking pictures of our little water baby last night as he splashed around and played with his fishy and duck.

We wanted him to be nice and clean for his appointment with Dr. Jones this morning.

We had an early morning appointment and got the low down on Mr. Silas.

At six months he is...

17 lbs and 6.2 oz (50th percentile)

28.25 inches long (90th percentile)

and has a head circumference of 43.5 inches (95th percentile)

Dr. Jones said in height he is the size of a 9 month old, which explains why he is rapidly out growing those 9 month clothes and is wearing lots of 12 month items!

She was very impressed with Silas and his movements and abilities. We talked about moving from the infant carrier to a full size rear facing car seat since he is so close to maxing out the requirements for his current carrier. I guess I know what Mommy and Daddy are getting Silas for Christmas! I know he'll be spoiled rotten by his grandparents and Aunts and Uncles, so we'll be buying him the larger items that he needs vs toys that he'll play with.

We finished the appointment with hugs from Dr. Jones and then shots from the nurse. Silas was very unhappy with the shots, but as soon as they were over Silas was more than happy to cuddle with me and fell asleep on the way home.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving next week, our trip to Kentucky the second week of December, and then Christmas! It's so hard to believe that it's the holiday season already!

Silas' baptism

On Sunday, November 7th, we had Silas baptised in our church.

He was such a good boy through the entire service. He was all smiles and giggles as he was passed around to his aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

He didn't even cry with Father Reed poured the holy water on his head.

The anointing of the oil was a little different. He didn't cry but he didn't like the fact that Bishop Burrill, who is hidden behind Father Reed, was trying to rub something on his forehead, so he actually had it done twice!

Licia, our female priest, congratulated us during the peace. She is a big Silas fan too!

After communion and the rest of the service, we posed for pictures with Father Reed.

My sister Andi, and her husband John are Silas' God parents.  They were so happy to participate in Silas' special day!

Towards the end, Silas began to get a little tired of the pictures. Soon after this we went back to our house and had a yummy lunch provided by Silas' Honey and Bubby (grandparents). It was a great day!

First cold

Silas has his very first cold.

This is something we have not been looking forward to, but was eventually going to happen.

The poor baby has a stuffy nose and is generally not sleeping very well.

We've been very blessed that Silas only gets up once in the middle of the night. He'll slumber peacefully in the evening and when we put him to bed after a change and feed he'll sleep until 4 in the morning. He takes another bottle and goes back down until 7 or 8.

The last two nights have been really rough. He was up at 1:30, 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and at 7:30 was up for the day. I know it's because he isn't feeling well.

We have some saline for his nose which helps when using the nasal aspirator as well as boogy wipes, but he screams so badly while we are trying to clean him up. The relief on his face afterwards when he can breath freely makes the horrible torture worth it.

Silas doesn't even want to eat because it's so uncomfortable. He has to be sitting up so he can breath and even then it takes forever for him to get down his formula. We keep on attempting it because he needs the fluids, even if he gets frustrated with having to sit up so he can breath.

Having a sick baby is not fun
